Once upon a time two city kids grew up, got married and raised two sons. Somewhere along the line they moved to the country and one day the wife decided that she didn’t want to be an office dweller anymore, she needed something to do out of the house (or barn as it were.). The husband suggested raising alpacas! ALPACAS!?! she said. Well after several talks he finally got her to go on a farm visit. The first farm visit didn’t go very well as a smoochy young male alpaca tried to give her a kiss and when she kept turning away from him he gave her a push knocking her across the holding pen (splitting her lip and bruising her arm). Needless to say, it took quite a while to get her to go on another farm visit. He persisted and future farm visits went well and one day they decided to make the investment and purchased 3 female alpacas, built a barn and put in several pastures. The original girls have produced several very nice crias and after a few more purchases we now have a nice foundation herd. The moral of this story is YES a couple of city kids can grow up to raise and love ALPACAS!
